A Sister Geeks Goodbye

by T. Mack

SisterGeeks began in May of 2015 with a small group of friends who bonded over movies, television, books, and video games. Out of camaraderie, conversation, and confidence in the importance of our own opinions came SisterGeeks.net, a website for us to voice our thoughts on all the things that made us go “Squeeee!”

Sister Geeks Team

Over time, the ladies who contributed to the site and called themselves Sister Geeks changed. However, the vision, fun, and sisterhood of the site remained the same. We were still just a few girls hanging out, talking and writing about the stuff we liked, and hoping a few people might want to engage with us.

It has now been four and a half years and Sister Geeks has been a fun and fulfilling journey that has brought light and laughter into our lives, as well as memories we would not trade for the world. However, it would seem the time has come for us to move on to the next phase that life has for us.

Deuces

Whether or not that will include movie reviews, book lists, and geek news, we don’t know. But we are certain of how thankful we are to have had this time together to be Sister Geeks, to bond over our love for all things geeky, to “Squeeee” together and rant and rave over the good and bad of movies, TV, books, and pop culture.

Thank you for joining us on this ride. You’ve been a wonderful community. Be good to yourselves and stay geeky.

Sincerely,

Sister Geeks

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? (Who Watches the Watchmen?)

Watchmen 2

HBO has done it again! They’ve taken preexisting source material, added a few new ingredients, stirred it a bit, and presented us with a delicious cocktail that goes down smooth and has just the right bit of kick . I’m talking, of course, about the new Watchmen series, based on Alan Moore’s 1986 comic series of the same name. If you haven’t yet experienced this show, you’re missing out, my friend.

‘TIS THE SEASON, Y’ALL!

Well, depending on who you ask, that is. Because if you ask my husband, he’ll tell you there are still three weeks until the official Christmas season arrives. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve been ready for Christmas since at least November 1. So here’s the scoop on where to find your constant dose of super-sappy, over-dramatic, hyper-romantic, and amazingly cheerful movies playing 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from now until Christmas day. The Gift

Mesmerized_3

by T. Mack

Alice decided to seek professional help after she almost accidentally kidnapped a small child.

“I was nearly arrested,” Alice exclaimed. Then she broke down in tears, covering her face with her hands and letting her long, blonde hair fall in curtains around her to try and hide her from the world.

Alice sat on a dark grey sofa. Across from her, perched on the edge of a large, sturdy coffee table, sat a woman in long, flowing fabric. Her hair was also long and loose, but her dark eyes held no tears. They did hold sympathy, however. She knew what had brought Alice to her, but she waited patiently to let the other woman tell her own story. After some time, Alice did just that. Continue reading
